1,016 platoons of BGB members deployed across Bangladesh

A total of 1,016 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members have been deployed across the country, aiming to control law and order situation.

The decision of the deployment of paramilitary forces was taken by the Election Commission this afternoon which will take effect immediately.

BGB Public Relations Officer Mohsin Reza confirmed the news.

He said: “A total of 1,016 platoons of BGB members have been deployed across the country ahead of the 11th parliamentary polls. Of them, 141 platoons are deployed in the capital and Dhaka division.”

“The paramilitary forces will control the overall law and order situation in the country until the election day and will work in coordination with the returning officers at the district level,” he added.

The upcoming national election is set to be held on December 30.
