19th conference of Bangladesh Agronomy Society held

The 19th Annual Conference of Bangladesh Agronomy Society has been held at Kazi Badrudduza Auditorium of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute on Saturday. The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Tailoring Agronomy for Changing World’.
Vice-Chancellor of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur Prof. Md. Ghiashuddin Miah was present as the chief guest while president of BSA and former director general of BARI Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam Mondal presided over the conference.
BARI Director General Dr. Md. Nazirul Islam and Professor of BSMRAU Dr. M. A. Karim were present as the special guests.
General Secretary of BSA and Chief Scientific Officer of Regional Pulses Research Sub-Center, BARI, Gazipur Dr. Md. Omar Ali addressed welcome speech and Publication Secretary of BSA Prof. Dr. Parimal Kanti Biswas gave the vote of thanks.
Senior International Consultant of the International Wheat and Maize Improvement Center Dr. Moin Us Salam was the key-note speaker at the conference. Two more research papers were also presented at the technical session of the conference.
Speakers at the conference said, keeping pace with the present world, the population of our country is increasing day by day. But the amount of cultivable land is not increasing at that rate but on the contrary it is decreasing day by day. So delivering nutritious food is a huge challenge for this growing population.
