2024 International Emmys: Who took home the coveted awards?

The 52nd edition of the International Emmy Awards was held on November 25 in New York City, showcasing the best of global television.

Renowned Indian comedian and actor Vir Das, who earned his first International Emmy last year, returned to the stage as the host. This marked a historic moment, as he became the first Indian to take on the role of emceeing the prestigious event.

Organised by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (IATAS), the event took place at the New York Hilton Midtown.

In the United States, the ceremony aired live from 5pm to 11pm EST, while Indian audiences could stream the awards on Emmys.tv from 3:30am to 9:30am IST on the morning of Tuesday (November 26).

The 2024 International Emmy Awards showcased 56 nominees representing 21 countries, reaffirming its reputation as a global celebration of television excellence.

Competing across 14 diverse categories, the nominees included entries for Arts Programming, Best Actor, Best Actress, Comedy, Documentary, Drama Series, Kids’ Animation, Kids’ Factual & Entertainment, Kids’ Live-Action, Non-Scripted Entertainment, Short-Form Series, Sports Documentary, Telenovela, and TV Movie/Mini-Series.

Led by Vir Das as the host, the 2024 International Emmy Awards shone a spotlight on remarkable talent from around the world, while achieving a milestone for Indian representation.

This year, India’s sole entry was Sandeep Modi’s gripping drama “The Night Manager,” which vied for the coveted Drama Series award.

Featuring stellar performances by Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sobhita Dhulipala, the series brought international attention to Indian storytelling.
