Govt extends Khaleda’s release for 6 more months

The government has extended BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s temporary release for six more months.
Law Minister Anisul Huq on Thursday confirmed media about the matter.
“Khaleda Zia’s temporary release has been extended on previous condition that she would not go abroad,” said the minister
On March 25, Khaleda Zia was released from jail on humanitarian ground following appeal by her family members.
On February 8, 2018, a special court convicted Khaleda and awarded her five years’ imprisonment in Zia Charritable Trust graft case.
Later, the High Court on January 28, 2019 doubled Khaleda’s jail term to 10 years from five years in the case.
