The decision had been taken hours after the police arrested them on Friday in connection with the attack on Dinajpur Ghoraghat upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Waheeda Khanam.

The expelled Juba League leaders are Jahangir Alam, a convener, and Asadul Huq, a member, said a press release of the organisation.

Central Juba League general secretary Mainul Hossain Nikhil said that they had expelled the duo over the attack on Waheeda.

Waheeda Khanam, Ghoraghat UNO, was critically injured in an attack by assailants at her home on the upazila parishad premises early Thursday.

Her father Omar Ali Sheikh was also injured in the attack. They were taken to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital and then Waheeda was airlifted to Dhaka.

The police and Rapid Action Battalion detained three suspects in overnight raids in this connection.

Doctors at National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital said that Waheeda’s condition was stable and she regained her senses.
