The government has turned all educational institutions into a battlefield in order to serve its political interests, said BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

He said: “The students in all colleges and universities are now in fear of being tortured. The desperate members of Bangladesh Chhatra League are beating up the students, who wants quota reform, mercilessly on the campuses.”

Rizvi came up with the remarks at a press conference in the capital on Tuesday.

He said: “Amid country-wide demonstrations staged by the job seekers, prime minister announced to abolish the quota system. But, now the government is dodging the students by delaying the issuance of the gazette.”

“ Quota reformists’ leader Rashed has been placed on a 5-day remand which proved that the government is apparently heading toward violent confrontation with the students taking a hardline against them,” he added.
