Barrister Rafique-ul-Huq is no more

Former Attorney General and Senior Lawyer of the Supreme Court Barrister Rafique-ul-Huq is no more. Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilaihe Rajewn. He was 83.
He died at about 8:30am on Saturday while underwent treatment at Ad-Din Hospital at Maghbazar in the capital.

Earlier, he was in life support at the hospital. Ad-Din Hospital authorities confirmed the Daily Observer about Rafique-ul-Huq’s death.

He had been undergoing treatment under the supervision of Dr Richmond Roland Gomez of Ad-Din Hospital.
On October 16 last, Barrister Rafique-ul-Huq was admitted to Ad-Din Hospital with the old age complications including anaemia.

On October 17, he went back home after he felt somewhat well. As his condition deteriorated, he was again admitted to the hospital early in the afternoon on that day.

Rafique-ul-Huq was at the intensive care unit (ICU) in June this year after his blood sugar had fallen alarmingly.

Rafique-ul-Huq was born in Calcutta on 2 November 1935 to Momin Ul Huq. He earned his MA and LLB degrees from Calcutta University in 1957 and 1958 respectively. He became Barrister-at-Law in 1961 and called to the Lincoln’s Inn in 1962.

He enrolled as an advocate in Calcutta High Court in 1960. He joined High Court at Dhaka in 1962 and enrolled as an advocate in Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1965. In 1975, he joined as a senior advocate in Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. He was appointed as the Attorney General of Bangladesh in 1990.
