Kamal Haasan is one of the most loved actors and filmmakers of Indian cinema. He was born on November 7, 1954 in Tamil Nadu. His father D Srinivasan was a lawyer and a freedom fighter.

Kamal Haasan started acting at the age of four. After winning a lot of accolades for his performance as a child actor, Kamal Haasan successfully transitioned into an adult star and featured in several Tamil and Malayalam films.

Kamal then also made his debut in Kannada and Telugu films and found success. However, after starring in the 1981 Hindi blockbuster Ek Duje Ke Liye, Kamal Haasan got nationwide recognition, fame and acclaim.

  • Kamal Haasan was the first South Indian superstar to successfully transition into the Hindi films and deliver blockbusters. Some of his big hits in Bollywood include, Ek Duje Ke Liye, Sanam Teri Kasam, Raaj Tilak, Geraftaar, Saagar, Pushpak, Chachi 420, Hindustani.
  • Kamal Haasan is one of the rare actors to deliver silver jubilee films in as many as five languages – Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, Kannada and Telugu.
  • In his 2008 hit Dasavathaaram, which was dubbed in Hindi as Dashavatar, Kamal Haasan played 10 characters. He aslo helmed the film.
  • A sequence in his 2001 film Aalavandhan, which released in Hindi as Abhay, was the inspiration behind a scene in Quentin Tarantino’s Hollywood blockbuster Kill Bill. The filmmaker himself admitted to this fact.
