COVID-19: 36 more die in 24 hrs in country

With the deaths of 36 more people in the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on Saturday, Bangladesh’s COVID-19 death count now stands at 6,580.
During this timeline, 1,908fresh cases were reported, taking the total virus cases to 4,60,619.
Currently, there are 78,154 active cases in the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, on Saturday afternoon.
Health authorities also reported 2,209more recoveries in a day, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,75,885.
In the last 24 hours, 118 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 13,718 samples and tested 14,012.

With this, a total of 27,43,592 samples were tested in the country.

Among the newly deceased, 28 were men and eight were women.

Of them, 30 are from Dhaka, three from Khulna, and one Chittagong, Rangpur and Barishal divisions respectively.

As of today, a total of 3,686 men (77.88 per cent) and 1,047  women (22.12 per cent) died from COVID-19 in Bangladesh.

The infection rate is 13.62 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested while the overall infection rate is 16.79 per cent.

So far, the recovery rate is 81.60 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.43 per cent.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 and the first death on March 18.

According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 14,51,140 people globally and infected 14,51,140  as of Saturday afternoon.
