No desire to prolong govt’s tenure, Quader to Fakhrul

The government has no intention and scope to prolong its tenure, said Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday.
Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges minister, was addressing a virtual press conference from his official residence in Dhaka. He made the comment in reply to BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s allegations on government what he made on Saturday.
Fakhrul, in a statement, alleged “AL is terrorizing common people through murder, injury and terrorism to prolong their tenure.”
Quader further said, “AL formed the government through votes of masses. So, an election will be held on due time as per the constitution. There is no desire to prolong the government’s tenure and also no scope for it.”
Blaming BNP for taking undemocratic ways rather than choosing elections, he further said, “Common people are still bearing the misrule of the party (BNP). And this is the reason that why they lost the confidence of common people.”
Terming Sheikh Hasina led government as people’s friendly Quader said, “Country people repeatedly electing Awami League as their government has brought the country on the highway of the development.”
Hinting BNP secretary general, Quader said, “BNP secretary general does not see the comfort of masses but they see the shadow of terror faces.”
About attack on BNP office in Magura he said, “An investigation is needed to find out culprits behind the attack. It is also urgent to investigate that is there any intra-party clash behind the incident?”
