Amid the farmers’ protest, Punjabi actor-singer Gippy Grewal took to Twitter to share his views on the same. It was after Diljit Dosanjh and Kangana Ranaut’s Twitter spat. Gippy Grewal shared that he was disappointed that Bollywood was being silent on the matter. He added that so many films have been shot in Punjab and that the state had welcomed filmmakers with an “open heart.”

In his post, he wrote, “Dear Bollywood, Every now and then your movies have been shot in Punjab & everytime you have been welcomed with open heart. But today when Punjab needs u the most, u didn’t show up and speak a word. #DISAPPOINTED #8_दिसंबर_भारत_बन्द #TakeBackFarmLaws #FarmersAreLifeline”

Responding to his tweet, Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu asked him not to put all celebs from the industry under one umbrella since those he “expected to speak up” did not.

She wrote, “Sir, just because the ones u expected to speak up did not please don’t put us all under the same umbrella. Not that the handful of us need validation regarding standing up but it really pulls down our efforts when disregarded.”
