Saif Ali Khan issues apology after receiving backlash on his Ravan statement

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan became the target of online trolls yesterday. The actor, in his latest interview, spoke about Ravan’s character that he is playing in Om Raut’s next Adipurush. Talking to a leading publication, Saif had revealed that the film had justified Ravan’s abduction of Sita.

Calling his role interesting, the actor said that the team will try to make the demon king Ravan look “humane.” His comments did not go down well with a section of netizens who called him out on social media and even trended “Boycott Adipurush” on Twitter.

Now a day after the incident, Saif has issued a public apology regarding the same. The 50-year-old clarified his stance and said his statement did not mean to hurt people’s sentiments in any way.

“I’ve been made aware that one of my statements during an interview, has caused a controversy and hurt people’s sentiments. This was never my intention or meant that way. I would like to sincerely apologise to everybody and withdraw my statement. Lord Ram has always been the symbol of Righteousness & Heroism for me. Adipurush is about celebrating the victory of good over evil and the entire team is working together to present the epic without any distortions,” read Saif’s apology.
