Tamil actress-VJ Chithra dies by suicide

In a shocking piece of news, famous Tamil television actress VJ Chithra, popularly called Chithu, is no more. The 28-year-old was reportedly found dead at a hotel room in Nazarethpettai, Chennai. Chithra, who is known for playing Mullai in the hit Vijay TV serial Pandian Stores, had recently got engaged to businessman Hemanth, just about few months back.

As per reports, Chithra had finished shooting at EVP Film City last night and had returned to her hotel room around 2:30 AM. She was staying at the hotel with her fiancee Hemanth. In his statement to the police, Hemanth has reportedly claimed that Chitra told him she is going for a bath soon after returning to the room. However, apparently, she didn’t come out for long and neither responded when he knocked at the door. Hemanth then called the hotel staff and when they opened the door with a duplicate key, she was reportedly found hanging from the ceiling fan.

“Hemanth has said that Chithra had informed him that she’ll be back after bathing and had not returned for a long time. After knocking door, and not getting opened, Hemanth reportedly called a hotel employee who opened the door with a duplicate key and found Chithra hanging from the ceiling fan with her saree. Nazarethpettai police have filed a case and are investigating the matter”, reads a report by India Glitz.

Chithra’s family, friends are yet to issue a statement regarding her untimely death. However, fans are unable to believe that someone as chirpy, as joyous as Chithra decided to end her life so soon. ‘Gone too soon’, ‘Why Chithra’ are how fans are reacting to this tragic news.
