Kartik Aaryan opens up about Love Aaj Kal’s failure

In a short period of time, Kartik Aaryan has managed to make a mark for himself in Bollywood. After the stupendous success of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, the actor witnessed a high in his career and went on to sign a couple of good projects. He was seen in films like Luka Chuppi with Kriti Sanon and Pati Patni Aur Woh with Ananya Panday and Bhumi Pednekar. And this film worked out in his favour. However, his next release, Love Aaj Kal, did not live up to people’s expectations.

The Imtiaz Ali directorial was a spiritual sequel to the 2009 film of the same name, featuring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone. Love Aaj Kal, starring Kartik and Sara Ali Khan, was one of the most anticipated films of the year. But the film failed to create the magic at the box office.

Talking about the failure of his film, Kartik told ETimes, “It has given me so much as an actor that I genuinely never bothered about the outcome. A great box office performance would have been nice, but a below-average one doesn’t bother me at all. At least not yet. Plus, the fact that my performance was so appreciated, especially by my favourite filmmakers, is more than enough for me.”

The actor added that when he was offered Love Aaj Kal, he was the most excited about the process of working on a love story by Imtiaz. Kartik mentioned that the process completely lived up to his imagination. He stated that he has learned so much from being on Imtiaz’s set.
