Over 800 Rohingyas leave Ukhiya camp for Bhasan Char

More than 800 Rohingyas left Ukhiya camp in Cox’s Bazar for Chattogram on Thursday afternoon.

 

Sixteen buses carrying the Rohingyas started journey around 12:30pm.
Around 3,000 Rohingyas are expected to relocate to Bhasan Char in Hatiya upazila of Noakhali district on Thursday and Friday.
Shamsuzzaman Noyon, Cox’s bazar additional commissioner for Refugee Relief and Repatriation, said a list of 3,000 Rohingyas, who are willing to go to Bhasan Char, have been made.
They will be taken to the Island by trawlers, he added.
In the first two phases, 3,446 Rohingyas were relocated to the river island.
