Language movement veteran Khandker Abdul Maleque dies

Khandker Abdul Maleque, a Language Movement veteran and a close aide of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, passed away on Tuesday due to old age complications. He was 85.

He breathed his last around 3pm at his village home in Muktagachha of Mymensingh.

Abdul Maleque, also an organiser of the Liberation war, is survived by his wife, two sons and a host of admirers.

The organising secretary of greater Mymensingh, Abdul Maleque had been elected MPA from Muktagachha with boat symbol in 1970.

He was also elected Muktagachha porasava chairman in 1997.
