Dealing with Covid-19 situation becomes very difficult: Health Minister

The deadly coronavirus pandemic has deteriorated in the country due to desperate and uncontrolled behaviour of common people, said Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Tuesday.

“It has become very difficult to bring the coronavirus situation under control as the transmission of the dreadful virus continues to increase,” he said while talking to reporters after visiting the COVID Hospital of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) at Mohakhali in the capital on Tuesday.

The Health Minister said 200 beds would be accommodated at the ICU of DNCC’s COVID Hospital at Mohakhali.

Replying to a question, he said coronavirus patients have increased 10 to 11 times than that of the last year. In such a situation, there is no alternative to follow the health guidelines to prevent coronavirus infection.

Zahid Maleque further said lockdown has been imposed for the greater welfare of the country and its people. The government doesn’t want to apply force on anyone. All should follow the health guidelines for the sake of saving their lives.
