Kangana Ranaut-starrer Thalaivi’s release postponed due to spike in COVID-19 cases

Due to the sudden surge in the COVID-19 cases across the nation, many Bollywood films, that were scheduled to release in theatres, have been postponed. So far, movies like Sooryavanshi, Haath Mere Saathi, Chehre and other films got postponed due to the COVID-19 spike. And now, Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film, Thalaivi, has been postponed. The movie, based on the life of late J Jayalalithaa, was scheduled to release on April 23. Owing to the increasing coronavirus cases in India, the makers of the film have postponed the movie’s release.

An official statement has been issued by team Thalaivi on the same. It reads: “Dear Audience, we are extremely grateful for the tremendous response and unconditional love you’ve shown for Thalaivi trailer. As a team, we have sacrificed a lot in making this film and thank every member of the cast and crew who supported us in this challenging but remarkable journey.”

“But with an alarming rise in COVID-19 cases, subsequent precautions and lockdowns, even though our film is ready to release on 23rd April, we want to extend all the support towards the government rules and regulations and have decided to postpone the release of Thalaivi,” the statement read.

The makers also mentioned that since the film has been made in multiple languages, they would like to release it in all the languages on the same day. However, since there is a rise in COVID-19 cases, they have postponed the release.

And though they are deferring the release date, the makers of Kangana’s film Thalaivi are confident that they will receive the same amount of love from everyone later as well.
