Mamunul’s marriage is his personal matter: Babunagari

Hefazat-e Islam’s central joint secretary general Mamunul Huque’s seond marriage is his personal matter, said the organisation’s secretary general Junayed Babunagari.

Hefazat has no comment in this regard, he said.

Babunagari made the remarks following a formal meeting at Darul Ulum Mainul Islam Hathazari Madrasa in Chittagong on Sunday.

He said Mamunul Huque’s second marriage was completed according to Shariah law. “We have no comment in this regard,” he said.

Some 35 central leaders of Hefazat-e-Islam were present at the meeting held with the organisation’s secretary general Junayed Babunagari in the chair.

Hefazat’s organising secretary Azizul Huq Islamabadi told journalists that the issue of filing cases against Hefazat-e-Islam’s leaders and activists in different parts of the country was the main agenda of the meeting.

It may be recalled that violence took place in several parts of the country in Hathazari, Patiya, Dhaka, Brahmanbaria and Sylhet between March 26 to March 29. Cases were filed against Hefazat’s leaders and workers in connection with these violence. Local people besieged Mamunul Huque with a woman at a resort at Sonargaon in Narayanganj. Mamunul claimed that the woman was his second wife.
