GBNEWS24 DESK//
Husband Sakib Alam Mishu has given confessional statement to court in a case filed in connection with the recovery of his wife Jhilik Alam’s dead body from a private car at Hatirjheel in the capital.
Following his remand twice, investigation officer (IO) of the case produced Sakib Alam at the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Moinul Islam on Sunday. Afterward, the accused agreed to submit confessional statement voluntarily and the IO pleaded to the court to record his confessional statement. Recording the confessional statement, the court sent the accused to jail.
Earlier on April 8, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahinur Rahman placed the accused on a two-day remand and on April 4, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debdas Chandra Adhikari placed Sakib on a three-day remand.
It was learnt that the couple used to reside at a house at Road 36 of Gulshan-2. The accused husband told police that he and his wife got out of the house and boarded their private car. When they reached Ambagan area of Hatirjheel, their car got onto the roadside island after the husband lost control of the steering. In the accident, husband Sakibul Alam received minor injuries and his 23-year-old wife Jhilik Alam was critically injured. After he rushed his critically injured wife to the emergency department of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, doctors there pronounced her dead.
However, Jhilik’s relatives alleged that husband Sakib staged a drama by killing his wife. Later, Jhilik’s mother filed a case with Gulshan police station alleging that her daughter was murdered.
