Volkan Bozkır, the president of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly, will travel to Bangladesh and Pakistan from 25 to 27 May.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will receive him in Dhaka. He will also meet bilaterally with Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen and deliver remarks to the Foreign Services Academy, said UN in a statement yesterday.

His statement will address the current international context — with a focus on global crises and emergencies — and reflect on the state of multilateralism and the United Nations system.

The president will also meet with the United Nations country team in Dhaka.

While in Bangladesh, the UNGA President will also travel to Cox’s Bazar to meet with Rohingya refugees and observe the vital work undertaken by UN resident coordinator and the UNHCR representative.

In Islamabad, the president is expected to be received by Pakistan President Arif Alvi and the country’s Prime Minister Imran Khan.
