State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman has expressed hope that cyclone ‘Yaas’ may not leave impact on Bangladesh coast if it does not change course.

But, strong wind may lash the country under the influence of the cyclone, he said in a cyclone preparedness meeting held at the Secretariat on Monday.

“We’re closely monitoring the situation and it will continue until the end of its landfall,” the State Minister added.

Enamur Rahman also informed that if the cyclone changes its course then people would be evacuated from their homes and taken to shelter home.

Meanwhile, country’s all the maritime ports have been advised to hoist distant warning signal No 2 instead of cautionary signal No 1 as the depression over the Southeast Bay and adjoining Andaman Sea intensified into cyclonic storm ‘Yaas’.

The depression over East-Central Bay and adjoining area moved north-westwards and intensified into a cyclonic storm ‘Yaas’ over the same area.
