Bangladesh is totally free from cyclone Yaas: Enamur Rahman

State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Md. Enamur Rahman said that cyclone Yaas crossed the north Odisha coast of India about 20 km south of Balasore between 10.30 am and 11 am, with 130-140 km per hour winds and 150 km per hour gusts.
Therefore, Bangladesh is now completely free from the danger of the cyclone. But, people of 27 upazilas of 9 coastal districts have been affected by high tides.

The State Minister was addressing a press briefing on the overall cyclone situation at the Secretariat on Wednesday afternoon.

At that time, the Md. Enamur Rahman said, one person died when a branch of tree next to the house broke in the storm and fell on a man’s body at Lalmohan upazila in Bhola at around 9pm on Tuesday.

He said Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Noakhali and Lakshmipur districts were affected by the cyclone.

The affected upazilas include Shyamnagar, Asashuni, Koyra, Dakop, Paikgachha, Sharankhola, Mongla, Morelganj, Mathbaria, Barguna Sadar, Patharghata, Amtali, Patuakhali Sadar, Galachipa, Rangabali, Dashmina, Mirzagad, Korjapa , Daulatkhan, Bhola Sadar, Hatia, Ramgati and Kamalnagar.
