Will not see Sunidhi Chauhan as a judge on Indian Idol anymore

Noted singer Sunidhi Chauhan was one of the judges on singing reality show Indian Idol during its fifth and sixth season. A popular face on the show, it was surprisng when she stopped appearing on it afterwards.

The singer, who came into the limelight for the 1999 song Ruki Ruki si Zindagi for Mast has now opened up on the reason for her absence on the reality show, and it all trickles down to the Kishore Kumar episode on the show where his son Amit Kumar recently claimed that the producers of Indian Idol had asked him to praise all the contestants, irrespective of his opinion. Amit was a guest judge on one of the episodes of the show, where they paid homage to his father, the legendary singer, Kishore Kumar.

And now, Suinidhi Chauhan has opened up on quitting the show and said that she left the popular singing reality-show as a judge as she could not go on doing what the producers wanted and praise contestants irrespective of their performances.

 

In conversation with ETimes, Sunidhi revealed that while it was not that they were told to praise everybody, but they were told to praise, adding that she could not go on because of what they wanted. The singer said she could not do what they wanted of her and thus had to part ways.

When asked why the present judges — Himesh Reshammiya, Vishal Dadlani and Neha Kakkar do not even correct the contestants or give them constructive criticism, the singer reasoned that there is too much competition, adding that it is done to seek attention and hold on to the audience.
