‘Gunfight’ kills one in Tongi

A suspected drug dealer was killed in a reported ‘gunfight’ with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Gazipur’s Tongi on Monday night.
Deceased Rokon Sikder, 33, was the top drug dealer in the area, the RAB said, adding that he was also an accused of over 20 cases, the RAB informed.
RAB legal and media wing’s assistant director ANM Imran Khan said acting on a secret information that a gang of drug peddler was selling drugs, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in Hazi Majar Bosti area at about 11: 30.
Sensing presence of the team, the gang members opened fire on them, forcing the RAB personnel to fire back that triggered a shootout.
Rokon was caught in the line of fire.
A foreign-made gun, magazine, bullets and Yaba tablets were recovered from the scene.
The body was sent to Shaheed Tazuddin Ahmad Medical College and Hospital
