Spider-Man: No way Home may connect Sony’s Marvel movies to the MCU, say reports

It has been some time that rumours are afloat of Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home having major implications for the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, as per recent reports, Sony Pictures Motion Group President Sanford Panitch has teased that the film could have even bigger implications for the Sony Marvel Universe as well.

For the unversed, back in December 2020, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Walt Disney Studios, two companies that last month said they could not agree on terms to continue working together on the live-action Spider-Man series, announced a reversal on Friday, to the relief of the films’ fans.

And now, Sony Pictures Motion Group President Sanford Panitch, in interaction with Variety, stated that there actually is a plan for Spider-Man to meet other villains that have existed in the Sony universe of comic book films, including Venom, Carnage, and the upcoming Kraven from Sony’s recently announced Kraven the Hunter film.

During the interaction, he further added, “I think now maybe it’s getting a little more clear for people where we’re headed and I think when No Way Home comes out, even more will be revealed.”

Panitch also teased that while Spider-Man: No Way Home is the last film for Disney’s Marvel Studios and Sony’s partnership, he believes more opportunities will arise. Panitch, in fact, went on to add that the volume of characters in the Marvel universe is huge, before quipping, “It’ll be exciting if they do meet, right?”

Reports suggest that No Way Home will incorporate characters from Sony’s earlier Spider-Man movies that starred Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
