Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday called upon all irrespective of opinions and party affiliations to stand by distressed people during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
“Awami League does not believe in politics of consumption as like as some irresponsible and comment-oriented political parties rather it believes in politics of sacrifice,” he said.
Quader was addressing Prime Minister’s Eid gift and Covid-19 protective equipment distribution ceremony arranged by AL relief and social welfare sub-committee at Bangabandhu Avenue joining it virtually from his Secretariat office here.
He said Eid-ul-Azha, a festival of sacrifice, has come at the movement this year when the country is witnessing a high rise of coronavirus infection rate.
Noting that the history of Awami League’s politics is also a golden chapter of sacrifices, he said: “Bangabandhu taught us to make sacrifice for bringing smile on the face of masses.”
Staying beside people during disaster and crisis is the political philosophy of Bangabandhu and his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said.
Mentioning that millions of people are now going home amid the current situation of high infection rate of coronavirus across the country, he said everyone should remain careful and maintain health guidelines properly as anyone can carry coronavirus during the mad rush of home-bound people ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
Unless the home-bound people maintain highest level of caution, the Eid journey may appear as a severe shocking news.
