Paying rich tribute to Bangabandhu, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said the torch of independence lit by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be lit up forever.
“The torch of Bangladesh’s independence lit by the greatest Bangalee of all time Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be lit up forever,” he said, addressing the candle light programme on the premises of Shikha Chirantan at Suharwardi Udyan in the capital.
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote (BSJ) organised the function marking the first day of the month of mourning.
Hasan said the trial of Bangabandhu killing has been executed. And now, the expectation of the countrymen is to unmask the masterminds including Ziaur Rahman who were involved in the brutal assassinations, he added.
The minister said a commission should be constituted to unmask the masterminds behind the assassination of Bangabandhu to let the history to future generation know. Otherwise, the next generation will not know the real history, said Hasan, also the Awami League joint general secretary.
He said the people of the country also expect the banning of those who were against the independence and didn’t want the freedom and were involved in the brutal assassination of August 15.
He also paid rich tribute to other family members of Bangabandhu who were killed in the brutal assassination, four national leaders and all martyrs.
The minister said the candle light programme in front of Shikha Chirantan is significant as the awakening of Bengali nationalism and the state of Bangladesh was established under the leadership of Bangabandhu.
