Bangladesh, Australia to work together to combat climate change

The Australian envoy, who is leading the delegation, appreciated the various initiatives of Bangladesh to deal with climate change. He said,
adding, “Australia’s cooperation in the field of low carbon technology transfer, renewable energy, clean energy, climate adaptation and mitigation activities will continue in an accelerated pace”.
Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Mohammad Mustafa Kamal, Additional Secretary Iqbal Abdullah Harun, Additional Secretary (Development) Ahmad Shamim Al Razi, Additional Secretary (Climate Change) Sanjay Kumar Bhowmik, among others, attended the meeting.
Seeking Australia’s support in the field of climate change, the Environment Minister said that as the President of Climate Vulnerable Forum
(CVF) and Vulnerable Twenty (V20) group, Bangladesh is playing an important role in international arena to tackle climate change.
Bangladesh has submitted enhanced NDC and has announced Mujib Climate Prospect Plan while the work of National Adaptation Plan (NAP) is progressing, he said.
The environment minister hoped that the world leaders will reach theconsensus of providing 100 billion US dollars to the vulnerable countries.
