BNP believes in conspiracy, arms instead of people’s power: Hasan

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Saturday said BNP believes in conspiracy and arms instead of power of the masses.

“BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that they would not go to elections without caretaker government. In fact, they believe in the politics of conspiracy and arms instead of the common people … For this, they talked in this way and said that they would not go to polls,” he said.

The minister said this while talking to reporters after an extended meeting of Awami League (AL) Dinajpur district unit at the local Zila Parishad, BSS reports.

Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary, said BNP tried to resist the polls in the past too. But they didn’t succeed, he added.

Replying to a query over Cumilla, Pirganj and Noakhali incidents, the minister said the truth is being revealed in phases as how Barkatullha Bulu instigated the Noakhali incident and who instigated Iqbal.

All the leaders and activists of Awami League have been asked to stand beside the Hindu community and they were there, he added.

The minister said the government has taken prompt actions and 129 cases have been lodged and over 1200 persons were arrested so far. The steps of the government have been praised by all, including in those in diplomatic arena, he added.

AL organising secretary Shakhawat Hossain Shafiq, member Abdul Awal Shamim, Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Whip Iqbalur Rahim and Shibli Sadiq, MP, among others, addressed the meeting with Dinajpur district AL president Mostafizur Rahman Fizar in the chair.

General secretary of the AL Dinajpur district unit Azizul Imam Chowdhury conducted it.
