DNCC constructs 63 public toilets for city dwellers: Atiqul

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam on Thursday said that a total of 63 modern public toilets have been constructed for the city dwellers at the initiative of DNCC.
He was addressing a roundtable discussion on the occasion of ‘World Toilet Day-2021’ at a city hotel, reports BSS.

The mayor said that this time the theme of the day “Evaluation of Toilet (Shouchagar er Mullayon)” is very significant and time befitting.

He said that anyone can get information related to the public toilets in the DNCC areas using the “Sobar Dhaka” mobile app.

He urged all to install modern septic tanks and soak wells should be installed in the houses alongside active purification system at the houses of the city aiming to ensure healthy environment.

Developer companies need to develop buildings as well as ensure effective arrangements for waste management, he said, adding that legal action will be taken if authorities concerned of developer companies do not ensure necessary septic tank.

Bhumijo and WaterAid Bangladesh jointly organized the discussion while editor of the daily Bhorer Kagoj Shyamal Dutta conducted it.

Additional Chief Engineer of DNCC Dr Tariq Bin Yousuf was present there, among others.
