Court issues arrest warrants against 8 over launch fire incident

A naval court has issued arrest warrants against eight people, including four owners of the launch, for negligence over the launch fire incident on the Sugandha River in Jhalakathi early Friday.

Judge (Special Metropolitan Magistrate) of Dhaka Marine Court Zainab Begum issued the arrest warrant on Sunday.

The accused launch owners are Hamjalal Sheikh, Md Shamim Ahmed, Md Rasel Ahmed and Ferdous Hasan Rabbi of Messrs Al Araf and Company, the master-in-charge of the launch Md Riaz Sikder, driver-in-charge Masum Billah and the second master Md Khalilur Rahman and second driver Abul Kalam.
