Also starring Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur, the film was slated to release on December 31. But due to the rise in COVID cases around us as well as the fear of a new variant, the nakers have announced that the film’s release has been pushed. Moreover, the makers have also rubbished rumours of the film releasing on an online platform.
A Tweet by Taran Adarsh confirmed the news that read, “#Xclusiv… #BreakingNews… #Jersey POSTPONED… WON’T RELEASE ON 31 DEC… New date will be announced shortly… Industry talk that #Jersey will be Direct-to-OTT release is FALSE.”
After the re-opening of cinema theatres, various movies haven’t just released, but release date of numerous pending films have also been announced including Brahmastra, RRR, Laal Singh Chadha. But with Jersey being postponed due to the rising cases in the country, it’s left to see if these films will also be choosing to postpone the release or just opt for a digital release.
On the other hand, Jersey is the official Hindi remake of the Telugu film with the same name. The Telugu version was directed by Nani in the titular role. The film revolves around a cricketer who’s given up the sport due to unforeseen circumstances but returns the stands for the love that he has for his son.
