A Dhaka court has fixed September 20 to deliver its order on whether the trial proceedings in Zia Charitable Trust corruption case will continue in absence of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Judge MD Akhteruzzaman of the Special Judge Court-5 fixed the date today after holding a hearing in this regard.

Yesterday, the BNP chief declined to appear before the special court at Old Dhaka Central Jail.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing, saying the court would hear whether it should continue its proceedings in absence of Khaleda.

Earlier on September 5, appearing before the same court, Khaleda Zia said she won’t appear before the court anymore.

Expressing a lack of confidence in the special court, she, on the day also said: “There is no justice here. Punish me as much as you want, punish me for as long as you want.”
