Three of a family among four electrocuted in Cumilla

At least four people died from electrocution when a live power line fell on a running CNG-run autorickshaw at Nangalkot Upazila in the district on Friday.

The deceased are Maulana Abu Taher, 60, his son Maulana Abu Bayzid, 30, daughter Fahima Akter, 18 and autorickshaw driver Sarwar Hossain, 35. All of them are from Bagmara village of Moukra union in the upazila.

Nangalkot Police Station Sub-Inspector (investigation) Md Ashraful Islam has confirmed the news.

He said: “The incident that took place on Nangalkot-Doulkhar road around 12:30pm when the family was on their way to a relative’s house, leaving four people killed on the spot and injuring two others.”

“The bodies have been taken to the local hospital for medical examination and we are investigating into the incident,” the officer added.
