Former state minister for Home Affairs Tanjim Ahmed Sohel Taj on Sunday afternoon brought out a march from the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban area towards Ganabhaban to press home his three-point demands.
The march began from in front of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at Manik Mia Avenue on Sunday.
Sohel Taj was accompanied by his sister Mahjabin Ahmad Mimi, two child members of the family and Tureen Afroz, a former prosecutor at the war crimes tribunal.
More than 100 demonstrators stood outside the Ganabhaban with banners and festoons after the march from Manik Miah Avenue in the afternoon.
The members of Tajuddin’s family and Tureen entered the Ganabhaban at that time at the invitation of Biplab Barua, special assistant to the prime minister. Biplab also received a memorandum from Sohel Taj.
Sohel Taj’s demands were declaring April 10 as ‘Republic Day’, observing November 3 as ‘National Mourning Day’ at state level, and inclusion of names and biographies of all organisers and participators in the Liberation War.
It may be mentioned that April 10 is the day the first Bangladesh government was formed, and November 3 is the Jail Killing Day.
