AL-backed Momtaz, Dulal elected SCBA president, secretary

Awami League-backed white panel’s Md Momtaz Uddin Fakir and Abdun Noor Dulal have been elected president and secretary respectively of the Supreme Court Bar Association for 2022-2023 session.
Chief of the election sub-committee Wazi Ullah declared the election results at about 10:00pm on Wednesday.

The poll was held on March 15 and 16.

In the president post, ruling Awami League-backed White panel candidate Md Momtaz Uddin Fakir bagged 3,244 votes while his rival Bangladesh Nationalist Party-backed Blue panel candidate Md Badrudduza Badal got 2,479 votes.

Besides, in the secretary post, ruling Awami League-backed White panel candidate Abdun Noor got 2,891 votes while his rival BNP-backed Blue panel candidate Md Ruhul Quddus Kajal bagged 2,846 votes.

The Awami League-backed white panel secured seven posts, including president, secretary, two vice-presidents and three executive members, out of 14. They are Md Shahidul Islam and Mohammad Hossain, and Fatema Begum, Shahadat Hossain and Subrata Kumar Kundu.

BNP backed Blue panel secured the remaining seven posts, including treasurer, two assistant secretaries and four executive members. They are Mahfuz Bin Yusuf and Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman Khan as assistant secretaries, Md Kamal Hossain as treasurer, and Mahdin Chowdhury, Golam Akter Zakir, Manzurul Alam and Quamrul Islam as executive members.
