Doctor Strange 2 crosses $550 million at global box office in 9 days

The sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch starrer Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is having a massive run at the global box office. The Marvel film which also sees Elizabeth Olsen return as Wana aka Scarlet Witch has crossed $550 million at the global box office in just nine days.

The Sam Raimi directorial has not faced any stiff competition over the week and is expected to continue with its winning streak at ticket windows over the weekend. The only other film of any notable importance in the remake of the Stephen King novel Firestarter, starring Zac Efron, but early reviews have already stated that the film lacks a spark. The film earned$375,000 in Thursday previews.

The 28th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Strange 2 follows close at the heels of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Stephen Strange directly got involved in the life of Peter Parker who wanted him to make people forget his identity. However, owing to Parker’s constant interruptions Strange ends up creating a tear in the Multiverse.
