Ranbir Kapoor says ‘no director really saw me in films like Shamshera’

Ranbir Kapoor is amongst the most prolific actors in Bollywood. Having featured in a number of Hindi films, the actor has made a mark for himself in the industry and also in the hearts of the audience. Well, Ranbir is now set to play a role which will probably break his image of a “next-door romantic guy”. The actor will be next seen playing the role of a dacoit in the upcoming movie Shamshera.
Earlier today, during the trailer launch event of Shamshera, Ranbir Kapoor opened up on breaking his ‘romantic hero’ image and said that no director really saw him in a role like this before and he is thankful to director Karan Malhotra for offering him a role like this.

Ranbir Kapoor said, “I think I myself got bored with my comfort zone and the things that I was doing. I think after 15 years in the industry as an actor, you have to keep challenging yourself, pushing the boundaries.”
He then added, “And to be honest, no director really saw me in films like this. I am really grateful that Karan Malhotra offered me a role like Shamshera because I was not getting offered films like this. They usually see me as a coming of age, romantic guy.”
Also, during the interaction, the Brahmastra actor talked about his married life and said “nothing is better than Dal Chawal” (giving reference to one of his dialogues from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani). He was quoted saying in Hindi, “”I always said that we need tangdi kebab, and not dal chawal in life. But with experience, I can say that nothing better than Dal Chawal. Alia is the tadka in dal chawal, the achar with it, she is everything and I could not have asked for a better partner in my life.”
