Wearing mask mandatory, govt issues directives to check Covid

The government has issued a six-point directives making masks mandatory at shops, shopping malls, markets, hotels and restaurants.

The Cabinet Division sent a letter containing the directives to the secretaries of all the ministries and divisions on Tuesday (June 28).

The letter also asked to take legal action if anyone is found without a mask in shopping malls, restaurants or hotels.

The directive signed by deputy secretary of the Cabinet Division Mohammd Khorshed Alam Khan reads that in the wake of rising Covid-19 cases in the country and negligence if people in wearing masks and following health guidelines have been observed. The matter is also being discussed at the high level of the government.

The directive asked for enforcing government guidelines including ‘No mask, no service,’ social distancing etc to prevent spread of the infection.

It also encouraged the public to take Covid-19 tests in case of any symptoms including fever or persistent cold.
