Fans are waiting eagerly to watch Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s first movie as an on-screen pair in Brahmastra. Their first love song from the movie, Kesariya was released yesterday and it’s already trending. Arijit Singh has sung the Hindi rendition of Kesariya and it’s composed by Pritam.
Though the song is getting a lot of attention, some small disappointments and controversies are rising around the song as well. While many were blown away by the chemistry between Ranbir and Alia in the song, others expressed disappointment on social media that the complete song hadn’t lived up to the bar set by its teaser. They have expressed their disappointment over the Love Storiya part of the song.
Twitter users are also speculating as to whether the song’s lyrics were taken from two other famous songs. Some Twitter users started posting about it. Recall how Abhay Deol and Neha Dhupia performed to Laree Chhoote by the Pakistani band Call in their 2007 movie Ek Chalis Ki Last Local? The song Kesariya, especially the first part sounds a lot like it, as claimed by a couple of Twitter users.

The first part also sounds a lot like a portion of the Wadali Brothers’ folk song Charkha, sung by the late Lakhwinder Wadali and Pooran Wadali. Netizens shared clips of Kesariya combining them with Laree Chhoote and Chrakha. While posting one wrote, “itna bhi copy mat karo (Don’t copy this much)”. Another comment read, “Kesariya Original 2013 Rajasthani song. Pritam copied again or coincidence? #Kesariya”.
