Graft case: Samrat’s bail period extended

The bail of former Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat in a graft case has been extended till October 20.
Dhaka Special Judge Court-6 Judge Al Asad Mohammad Asifuzzaman passed the order on Monday in presence of Samrat.
Today (September 19) was fixed for the charge framing hearing of the case. But Samrat’s lawyer Ehsanul Haque Somaji filed a petition to deffer the hearing. Later, the court accepted the petition and extended Samrat’s bail till October 20.
The ACC lodged a complaint against Samrat on November 12, 2019, for acquiring assets worth Tk 2.94 crore beyond his known sources of income.

After a longtime investigation, the case investigation officer submit the report before the court on November 26 last year.

Samrat was released from jail on August 22 after securing bail in all four cases.
In October 2019, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Samrat and his associate Enamul Haque Arman from Chauddagram in Cumilla.
