Names of two new chiefs of Police and RAB announced

Incumbent director general of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP).

At the same time, Additional IGP M Khurshid Hossain has been made new director general of RAB. Khurshid Hossain now works as the Additional IGP at Police Headquarters.

It was stated in a circular signed by Dhananjay Kumar Das, deputy secretary of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, on Thursday.

The order will be effective from September 30, the circular said.

Earlier on April 8, 2020, Dr Benazir Ahmed was appointed as the 30th IGP of the country.

Another circular issued on Thursday morning stated that IGP Dr Benazir Ahmed was going on retirement from service on September 30. As IGP Benazir Ahmed completes 59 years of age on September 30, he has been sent on retirement from government services as per Section 42 (1) (Ka) of the Government Service Rules 2018.
