The complainant yesterday rejected the probe report submitted by Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) in the case filed against Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir and seven others over the rape and murder of a college student in Dhaka’s Gulshan in April 2021.

Nusrat Jahan Tania, victim’s elder sister, also the case’s complainant, yesterday filed a no-confidence (naraji) petition with a Dhaka tribunal.

In the petition, the complainant said the IO did not investigate the case properly. Moreover, the IO did not seize any vital evidence to prove the allegations against the accused in the case.

Judge Begum Mafroza Parvin of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-8 of Dhaka fixed January 15 for recording statement of the complainant.

On October 12 last year, IO Golam Mukter Ashraf Uddin, also an inspector of PBI, submitted the probe report to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court.

In the probe report, the IO said he did not find any involvement of Anvir and other accused with the rape and murder of the college girl.

Police recovered the body of the 21-year-old college student in a Gulshan flat on April 26 of 2021.

The victim’s sister then filed a case with Gulshan Police Station against Anvir over abetting the death by suicide of the victim.
