A sensational second-innings batting collapse resulted in humiliation for Australia as hosts India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series after wrapping up Nagpur Test on the third day with a six-wicket victory yesterday.

Aussie legend Alan Border was ‘angry’ while compatriot Mathew Hayden was in utter disbelief after seeing their country slump into mayhem from a position of relative strength — all out for 113 from 85 for two in the span of 12.2 overs — unable to counter the spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

Hayden termed the batting collapse ‘a disaster’ given how they performed the day before. “They’ve gone way over the edge in terms of their aggressive play,” he said during commentary.

Border opined the Aussies lacked ‘method’ in playing as per the merit of the pitch. “It was panicky, frenetic sort of batting. They were all just getting out playing sweep shot, reverse sweep to just about every ball,” he told Fox Cricket.
