The 14th anniversary of the Pilkhana carnage was observed yesterday.

Floral wreaths were placed at the graves of the slain army officers at the Military Graveyard in the capital’s Banani on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at 9:00am.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, chiefs of three armed forces, BGB director general, and victims’ relatives also paid their tributes to the dead.

Marking the day, BGB will organise Quran-khwani, as well as doa and milad mahfil in mosques at the headquarters and all other units and border outposts, said a BGB press release yesterday.

Seventy-four people, including 57 army officials, were killed in the mutiny in the capital’s Pilkhana headquarters of the erstwhile Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) on February 25 and 26 in 2009.
