Based on the folklore of Bengal’s “Maimansingha Geetika”, the film was released on April 11 this year. Despite not achieving commercial success, “Kajolrekha” received critical acclaim.

On the selection of “Kajolrekha” for IFFR, director Gias Uddin commented, “This festival has always prioritised experimental films, and they were intrigued by how we brought an ancient tale like ‘Maimansingha Geetika’ to life in a contemporary, local form. It’s truly an honour.”
