Dhanush and Aishwarya Rajinikanth have formally finalised their divorce. The couple, who parted ways in 2022 after 18 years of marriage, officially filed for divorce in April 2024, two years after their separation announcement.

The Chennai Family Welfare Court granted their divorce after both Dhanush and Aishwarya stated that they could no longer continue their married life together.

The former couple appeared before the family court in Chennai on November 21, expressing their intent to separate. The judge presiding over the case scheduled the final verdict for November 27.

Dhanush and Aishwarya, who got married in a lavish ceremony in Chennai in 2004, announced their decision to separate through a joint statement that read, “Eighteen years of togetherness as friends, partners, parents, and well-wishers to one another. It has been a journey of growth, understanding, adjustment, and adaptation. Today, we find ourselves at a point where our paths diverge.”

“Aishwarya/Dhanush and I have mutually decided to part ways as a couple and take time to focus on understanding ourselves as individuals. We request that our decision be respected and that we are given the privacy we need to navigate this.”

The duo remain committed to co-parenting their sons, Yatra and Lingaa.

In a separate development, Dhanush has recently filed a petition in the Madras High Court against actress Nayanthara and her husband, director Vignesh Shivan.

The case revolves around allegations of copyright infringement, claiming that visuals from the film “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan,” produced by Wunderbar Movies, were unlawfully used in the Netflix documentary “Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale”.

Dhanush had earlier demanded Rs. 10 crore in damages after the Netflix documentary trailer included three seconds of behind-the-scenes footage from “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.”
