Kannada actress Shobitha Shivanna found dead, police suspect suicide
Kannada actress Shobitha Shivanna, a prominent figure in the Kannada film and television industry, was found dead in her apartment in Hyderabad’s Kondapur area.
According to ANI, police suspect it to be a case of suicide. Her body was sent to Gandhi Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
A police official informed ANI, stating, “She was found dead in her residence in Kondapur, under the jurisdiction of Gachibowli police station. She is suspected to have died by suicide. A case has been registered.” The exact circumstances of her death remain unclear.
Shobitha’s final Instagram post, shared on November 16, has left fans and the entertainment industry in shock. Many expressed their grief in the comments, with one asking, “Is it true? Did she commit suicide?”
The actress married Sudhir Reddy in 2023 and reportedly took a break from acting after her marriage. However, sources suggest she was preparing for a comeback to the big screen.
According to reports, Shobitha’s husband contacted the Gachibowli police around noon on Sunday. After receiving no response despite repeated knocks, he forced the door open and found her lifeless body hanging.
Born on September 23, 1992, in Bengaluru, Shobitha developed a passion for the arts at a young age. She attended Baldwin Girls’ High School and later graduated with a degree in Fashion Design from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). Although trained in design, her true calling was acting, and she quickly became a celebrated figure in the Kannada entertainment industry.
Shobitha was well-known for her roles in popular Kannada films such as “Vandana”, “Eradondla Mooru”, “Jackpot”, and “ATM: Attempt to Murder”.
In addition to her film career, she was a familiar face on television, starring in successful serials like “Gaalipata”, “Mangala Gowri”, “Kogile”, “Krishna Rukmini”, and “Brahmagantu”.
Her untimely death has left fans and colleagues mourning the loss of a talented artiste whose promising future was cut short.
