Screen count for ‘Jongli’ doubles
The much-talked-about film “Jongli”, directed by M Raahim, was released during Eid-ul-Fitr with a limited number of shows. From the very first day, all of its screenings were sold out. However, despite high demand from audiences, many were unable to get tickets and had to return disappointed, as the number of shows at all Star Cineplex branches remained limited.
However, now, just a week after the film’s release, it has been confirmed that the number of shows at Star Cineplex alone has now doubled. This update was confirmed by Zahid Hasan Abhi, the head of the film’s production company, Tiger Media.
Abhi said, “Our film ‘Jongli’ is story-driven. Over the past week, the audience themselves have proven that. People are coming to the theatres with their families to watch it. Not a single viewer has given a bad review. That is our biggest achievement. Despite this, the number of shows for such a film was kept limited; Star Cineplex had given us only seven shows across all its branches. And yet, tickets for all those shows were being sold out in advance. Still, the number of shows wasn’t increasing. Now, after a week, the shows have been doubled at Star Cineplex. That too is a kind of victory.”
According to Star Cineplex authorities, on the day of Eid, “Jongli” had only seven shows. On the second day, the number increased to nine. By the fourth day, it was reduced to just six shows. On the eighth day, the number of shows rose to eight. And by the ninth day, the film was given 14 shows — exactly double the number it had on its release day.
